Aligning Design with Values

Grand Victoria Foundation Offices

A Strong Foundation

Located in downtown Elgin, The Grand Victoria Foundation is the philanthropic extension of the Grand Victoria Riverboat Casino. The site chosen was in a 1,679 SF first floor commercial space. A significant component of the tenant build out was to reflect Green and Sustainable Design principles. Grand Victoria saw this as an opportunity to showcase how Green and Sustainable Design can be successfully accomplished, since this philosophy is encouraged of those receiving grants.

All in the Details

The Grand Victoria Foundation is LEED® Silver certified. It reflects a concern for alternate means of transportation in accessing the suite, light pollution reduction, water use reduction using low-flow fixtures, infrared sensors, and dual flush toilets, optimizing the performance of mechanical, electrical power, and lighting, using ENERGY STAR compliant equipment; diverting construction waste from the landfill, using construction materials as well as furniture and fixtures with a high degree of recycled content, specifying materials which have been extracted and manufactured regionally, designing a space to maximize indoor environmental quality by specifying materials with low-emitting VOC’s, orienting spaces to maximize daylighting and views; and with the contractor, developing an indoor air quality management plan to be followed during construction and before occupancy.
