FRWRD Administration Building
H²O + Ag = A Great Solution
Located on a pristine site adjacent to the Fox River, the new LEED® registered with a certification goal of Silver administration building gently rests upon the site, respecting the natural prairie. In response to the 100 year flood plain and adjacent wetlands, the building is sited in an east-west orientation, with an expanse of the windows facing south, toward the river.
Closing the Loop
Being adjacent to the existing West Plant affords the unique opportunity in the design of the mechanical system to use the effluent from the existing tanks in a closed loop heat transfer system, which will reduce the initial construction cost and, ultimately, the long-term operations and maintenance cost.
Let the Sun Shine In
All of the offices are provided with outstanding views and daylighting. The glazing is protected by engineered sunshades which control the glare and solar heat gain.
Ready for the Rain
Stormwater is being controlled through the use of permeable pavers. This system allows rain water to dissipate into the sandy soil beneath the site.
A part of the Whole
The entry façade is sympathetic to the architectural expression of the existing facility, creating a campus feel to the complex.
