Classroom Connections

As a member of the Bloomingdale Roselle Rotary Club, I had the opportunity yesterday to reach out to the community as part of our Rotary on the Road Program. I visited the Erickson Elementary School in Bloomingdale where I spent part of the afternoon reading to Second Grade students. It was a lot of fun for me and enjoyable for the students as well. The book was a great stepping off point for us to discuss bullying, self-confidence and the importance of keeping promises. The students were 100% engaged, constantly sharing their insight and experiences.

Getting into the classroom is something I truly enjoy – not just in the design of educational facilities, but, more importantly, in helping students learn. I hope that we do this again soon.
