Culinary and Fashion (Apparel & Textiles) Interior Renovations at Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School

The Interior Design Renovations in the Family & Consumer Science department will modernize the facilities of two of H-F’s most creative disciplines, creating industry-standard spaces that promote innovation and cultivate talent. This initiative aims to alleviate space constraints and reduce waiting lists for culinary courses while equipping students with valuable skills and industry-recognized credentials.

The revamped culinary arts space will feature a professional-grade kitchen equipped with modern appliances and technologies, replicating the setting of a professional restaurant kitchen. This allows culinary students to gain practical experience and develop their skills in a real-world context. Moreover, the addition of a commercial kitchen opens doors for students to pursue restaurant management certification and earn dual credit, further enhancing their career prospects.

The Fashion Design department will relocate to a new space just across the hall. This new location will provide students with enhanced classroom and lab facilities, specifically tailored to support their career interests in the fashion industry. The upgraded space will include state-of-the-art sewing equipment and ample workspace, enabling students to excel in their studies and pursue their passion for fashion design.
