Performing Arts Addition & Remodeling at Harold L. Richards High School, Community High School District 218, Oak Lawn, IL awarded Outstanding Project from Learning By Design
Harold L. Richards High School has received an OUTSTANDING PROJECT AWARD in the spring 2019 edition of LEARNING BY DESIGN, the premier source for education design innovation and excellence. The Harold L. Richards High School has been recognized by Learning By Design magazine for its architectural and interior design and for having next generation benchmark type design and planning features worthy of emulation.
LEARNING BY DESIGN’s distinguished spring 2019 jury of five architects and end-user’s applauded DLA Architects, Ltd. for its accomplishment in designing the Harold L. Richards High School. All projects included in this edition are peer-reviewed. The jury discusses and looks for in each project unique and or new concepts being implemented to improve education facility building design. Educational facilities such as the Harold L. Richards High School are scored on six core design criteria, including: Innovation, Meeting the Community’s Needs, Interior Design, Sustainability, Functional Design, and 2ist Century Learning.
The Jury comments about this project included: Good integration of architectural systems with acoustical requirements. Auditorium provides a 21st century hands-on learning experience. The sound solution for the music rooms has addressed a critical issue within the confines of budget limitations.
