Gathering Space Addition
Flexible by Design
The primary design concept was to create a comforting and inviting space – encouraging interaction, fellowship and a sense of “calming of the soul.” The resulting space was designed to be flexible, allowing for a variety of uses. After mass it is used to promote fellowship and a sense of family. At other times, it is used for parish meetings, study groups, special events and an intimate chapel for services.
A Goal Realized
Although small in terms of square footage, the Gathering Space Addition represents the implementation of intricate planning concerns related to the site, interior functional relationships, program needs as well as sensitivity to the existing ecclesiastical architectural expression. The addition design extends and reflects the design elements of the existing church.
