Parish Center & Pre-School

Narrowing down the Possibilities

When the decades-long tenant of the space no longer required the use of the former convent, the Parish formed a Committee to determine a course of action. What had for many years been a residential home to adults with developmental disabilities was then transformed to serve a multitude of needs.

Renovating to meet well-defined Goals

The new Parish Center is flexible by design. The renovation resulted in a variety of spaces, including the Parish Offices and numerous multi-purpose meeting rooms to meet the needs of the various, active ministries of the parish. 2 new pre-school classrooms alleviated demand for the popular program. A new Main Entrance and lobby was created, designed in a manner sympathetic to the existing architectural expression.
The existing building was brought up to current codes, re-roofed, received new insulated windows, had the façade cleaned and was provided with a new mechanical system. A significant design challenge was in making this two story building handicapped accessible. This was accomplished by introducing an elevator, redesigning the Toilet Facilities, as well as replacing doors and door hardware.
