Bruce R. Dahlquist, AIA, LEED® AP BD+C

President, Director of Sustainability

Bruce Dahlquist is one of the co-founders here at DLA and president of the company. The spark that started it all was Bruce’s frustration working at firms who put ego before client; he knew there was a better way. Bruce is passionate about solving a client’s needs – not just the obvious, but digging in to identify hidden concerns that affect design. He feels strongly that members of a team shouldn’t let egos step in the way of personal interaction, whether among staff, with clients, or even the community at large.

It was Bruce Dahlquist who spearheaded our efforts to incorporate green and sustainable design concepts into our projects back in the early 1980’s. When the US Green Building Council introduced the LEED rating system, Bruce led the charge to apply these metrics to our projects, resulting in healthy, very energy-efficient workplaces that our clients adore. He is an avid sportsman and, on the weekend, you’ll often find him at a top-secret fishing spot – maybe if you ask nicely he’ll share.
